What is a heart?
The heart is one of the important parts of the human body that makes people alive.
It is “located in the centre of the chest” and is an “organ that pumps blood throughout the body” with the supplication of oxygen and nutrients. (Tanya Lewis, Human Heart: Anatomy, Function & Facts)
The heart is also a symbol of love, which probably is the most powerful and positive emotion.
Love is one of the most intense emotions that we experience as humans. It is a variety of different feelings, states and attitudes that range from interpersonal affection to pleasure. Love can be defined as an intense feeling of affection with no limits or conditions for a person. (javaTpoint)
The full forms of ‘LOVE,’ that people created, are associated with life. Two of them are Life’s Only Valuable Emotion and Long-lasting Original Valuable Emotion.
So, the common ground between the human heart and human love probably is the centredness of something: the human heart is the centre of human beings and human love is the centre of positive emotions.
The Love of God
When people see someone who they love, their hearts start to beat but especially when they are nervous around them.
I think God’s heart is always pounding when He sees us from heaven. It is not because God is nervous when He sees us, but because He loves us so much that He wants us to live our lives as best as we can. 1 John chapter 4, verses 9-10, is one of the statements that illustrate how much God has loved us:
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
Since God has desired every one of us to be in a relationship with Him like it was in the beginning, He has renewed us through Christ’s physical death.
When people cannot understand our love for them, we want to tear our heart and show it to them.
So, Jesus Christ dying on the cross could be an expression of God’s love. He literally tore His heart out to save us as the Scripture states that Jesus Christ is actually God and we actually are God’s mini creatures. But also known as His children.
It is just a matter of the fact that we accept Him as our heavenly Father because He is already ready adopt us as His children. In fact, John chapter 1, verse 12-13 states we have given the right to become children of God if we believe in Jesus Christ.
Application
Like God tearing His heart out to save us, we should tear our hearts to Him to illustrate how much we love God. Of course, we cannot literally tear them out
because we would be dead.
However, two ways of illustrating how much we love God are to seek Him plus His kingdom foremostly and to put our 100% devotion into Him.
But how do we do them?
We must make believing in Jesus Christ as our foundation of living.
When we want to believe in someone, our desires begin to initiate knowing them better. Once we know them, we begin to understand and trust them. Trusting someone continuously makes us believe in them.
As believing in Jesus Christ is meant to happen continuously, instead of one time off, we have to know Him continuously.
Jesus prayed, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” before sacrificing His life for us (John chapter 17, verse 3).
I strongly think the Bible verse above sums it all up and believing in Jesus Christ gives us eternal life and knowing Him continuously equals believing in Him. If we keep believing in Jesus and pursuing Him more and more, we will eventually fall in love with Jesus.
Loving Him probably would lead to loving God because Jesus is the exact representation of God and Apostle Paul declared, “there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy chapter 2, verse 5)
So, make believing in Jesus as your life foundation and loving God will eventually fall into place!
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. (Romans chapter 10, verse 9-10)
